Exeter’s annual food and drink festival is just around the corner and it’s time to start planning how to make the most of the weekend. The annual food and music festival sees thousands of foodies flock to Exeter Castle and Northernhay Gardens to indulge in regional produce and see the region’s top culinary talent in action.
Back again for 2019, visitors will have a chance to visit new exhibitors taking part in Fresh at the Festival; an initiative created to champion those who’ve been in business fewer than three years. Sponsored by NFU Mutual Exeter, exhibitors are offered discounted participation, training and promotion to help these start-ups get as much support as possible. This year’s exhibitors include: Butter Bike Co, Cocorico, Passion for Pie, Pretty Little Pastries Ltd, Sweet Foragers and Two Drifters Brewery.
Butter Bike Co – Exeter’s very own one-woman band roasting, grinding and jarring peanut butter by hand and delivering by bike! Butter Bike Co uses 100% natural ingredients, no palm oil, no added peanut or coconut oil, no added sugar or preservatives and fairly traded nuts. Experimenting with adventurous flavours, Butter Bike Co will be at the Food Festival with its new Dark Chocolate and Cinnamon Raisin flavours.
Cocorico – With careers already in the cooking industry, friends Ruth and Andrew set up Cocorico in 2016. Having spotted a gap in the market for delicious bakes and gluten free products that are fairly priced and excellent quality, the baking duo now sell their bakes to local cafes, farm shops, schools and restaurants in Devon. Make sure you pop by their stand to see what baked good tickles your fancy.
Passion for Pie – Inspired by a pie making cookery course, Jason from Passion for Pie set up his own handmade artisan pie company in his own kitchen. The pies use locally sourced ingredients and the company has already won a range of industry awards all within 18 months of launching. Make sure you try its new Lamb & Minted Mushy Pea Pie at the show!
Pretty Little Pastries Ltd – a Devon based company aiming to provide a wide range of catering requirements. Chef and owner Samuel Brook has worked in several high end hotels throughout Devon, spending over four and a half years under Michael Caines at The Royal Clarence Exeter, and holding the Head Chef role at Paschoe House. Pretty Little Pastries can offer anything from birthday and wedding cakes, macaron favours to full wedding catering, private dining, canapes to full afternoon tea or just a dessert for a dinner party.
Sweet Foragers – Born after a 15 year career making cocktails and developing a passion for mixing flavours and creating new products, Sweet Forager products prefer to use either home-grown or foraged ingredients for its range of chutneys, relishes, sauces, pickles, preserves and syrups. The team will be at Exeter Food and Drink Festival with the new Port and Grape Conserve.
Two Drifters Brewery – Husband and wife team launching a new brewery and distillery in Exeter. Two Drifters Brewery make thirst quenching craft beer and super smooth white and spiced rum.
